Recommended Car Trips
If you hire a car during your stay here, there is so much to see on the island.
Day trips to Valldemossa and Deya are highly recommended.
|
Deya is a picturesque town and is home to many artists and painters. When you see the tranquility of
the place you can see why. It is also the home of the world famous La Residencia Hotel. Once owned by
Sir Richard Branson, and many famous celebrities still often stay there, so keep your eyes open while
walking through the streets, you never know who you might bump into.

The same can be said about Valldemossa, because Michael Douglas and Mrs. D can often been seen walking
through the town. They own a house nearby (a big one!) and have close links with Valldemossa.
The road from Alcudia through Pollensa, Lluc, Soller and onto Deya and Valldemossa is very twisty -
but is spectacular at the same time.
The famous S'Albufera nature reserve where a small selection of the Mallorca's
wonderful wildlife and plantlife can be seen. There are estimated to be some 230 species of bird either
nesting, passing through or permanently in Albufera at any one time.
Another trip worth making is to Formentor. You can either make the journey by car, or catch a ferry
from one of the various points along the beach in Alcudia.
The remains of the only Roman town in Mallorca can be found at Alcudia Old Town. Known as Pollentia, it was the
ancient capital of Mallorca and dates to 123 BC. And nearby is the remains of the old Roman Theatre which was
built in 1 AD.
